This half marathon was founded by Wade Clark in 2011. Wade began running to help cope with the tragic loss of his brother and friends in an avalanche. He was the only survivor. The inscription on "the rock" is Gaelic and it means "stone of help." It is where Wade started and ended each run during his time of healing.
Wade had to hustle to be the first one across the line on that first year even though he was the only one running the race. He picked up some goats along the course and they nearly beat him to the finish (check out our 2011 photo gallery to see the goats!). The goat has become the mascot for our race.

This course will test your stamina with a variety of terrain. It starts out with pavement, changes to gravel, then a trail through a field, next more gravel road, and finishes up the last couple miles on pavement. Each road has gentle hills, though about half of the course is flat, with the second half being the "flattest."
