This half marathon was founded by Wade Clark in 2011. Wade began running to help cope with the tragic loss of his brother and friends in an avalanche. He was the only survivor. The inscription on "the rock" is Gaelic and it means "stone of help." It is where Wade started and ended each run during his time of healing.
Wade had to hustle to be the first one across the line on that first year (see 2011 slide show below) even though he was the only one running the race. He picked up some goats along the course and they nearly beat him to the finish. The goat has become the mascot for our race.
